Sánchez-Werner and Wang play The Met’s Bechstein and Érard Pianos- “Pas des cymbales,” by Chaminade · 5:07 · Video: The Met · Watch at the source

In short: Pianists Llewellyn Sánchez-Werner and Derek Wang perform Cécile Chaminade's Pas des cymbales, Op. 36, No. 2. This unique session showcases two distinct instruments from The Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection, highlighting the craftsmanship of Bechstein and Érard in a live setting.

The performance features two notable instruments held by The Met. The first is a grand piano built by Carl Bechstein around 1893, donated by the Schonberger Family Foundation in 1993. The second is the La Mort du Cygne grand piano, a collaborative work by Sebastian Érard, Louis Majorelle, and Victor Emile Prouvé, crafted between 1903 and 1904 and gifted to the museum in 2022.

Recorded on October 7, 2024, in the museum's Patron’s Lounge, the event titled Dynamic Duos featured YoungArts alumni Sánchez-Werner and Wang. The program was supported by the Friends of Musical Instruments: The Amati.
