In short: Llewellyn Sánchez-Werner and Derek Wang perform selections from Claude Debussy’s Petite Suite. This performance highlights a unique instrument from The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s collection, showcasing the intersection of historical craftsmanship and contemporary musical talent.

The performance features the La Mort du Cygne grand piano, a collaborative masterpiece created between 1903 and 1904 by Sebastian Érard, Louis Majorelle, and Victor Emile Prouvé. This instrument, gifted to The Met by Yvette and Allen Michaan in 2022, serves as the centerpiece for the duo's interpretation of Debussy’s Petite Suite, L 65.

Recorded on October 7, 2024, in the museum's Patron’s Lounge, the event was part of the Dynamic Duos program. Both performers are alumni of the YoungArts initiative, and the session was supported by the Friends of Musical Instruments: The Amati.
