Poland prepares to host the expanded 22nd edition of the FIVB Men's World Cup

Poland, a nation with a rich history in the sport, will serve as the host for the fourth time, with matches scheduled from 10 to 26 September 2027.
The path to hosting was a multi-year process that began in August 2023. Although the Polish government expressed its intent to host early on, official confirmation from the FIVB did not arrive until 26 September 2025, during a meeting in Manila. The tournament will be spread across several iconic venues, including the Ergo Arena in Gdańsk and Sopot, Hala Urania in Olsztyn, Atlas Arena in Łódź, and the historic Spodek in Katowice. The final round is set to take place at the Tauron Arena Kraków.
Qualification for this expanded 32-team field is highly competitive. Italy enters the fray as the two-time defending champions, securing their spot alongside the host nation, Poland. Other participants earned their places by finishing in the top three at their respective 2026 continental tournaments. The remaining 15 slots were allocated based on the FIVB World Rankings as they stood on 16 October 2026, ensuring that the world's most consistent teams are represented in this high-stakes environment.
