The teenage captain who rewrote the history books for Partizan
In short: At just 17 years old, Andrija Živković achieved what few professionals ever do: he became the youngest captain in the storied history of Partizan. From winning a U-20 World Cup to representing Serbia on the world stage, his career has been defined by breaking records and delivering under pressure.
Born on 11 July 1996, the Serbian winger's rise was meteoric. After joining Partizan in September 2009, he quickly ascended through the ranks of their promising generation. His impact was immediate; he became the youngest player to ever make a senior appearance for the Serbian national team, debuting on 11 October 2013 against Japan at the age of 17. His professional journey began with a significant milestone when he made his competitive debut for the first team in a goalless draw against Novi Pazar in April 2013.
Živković's leadership qualities were evident early on. On 4 March 2014, at 17 years, 7 months, and 18 days old, he became Partizan's youngest-ever captain, surpassing the previous record held by Nikola Ninković. This precocity followed a successful stint with the Serbia national under-20 team, where he played a vital role in their 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup victory, contributing two goals and two assists.
His international career has seen him feature in multiple major tournaments, including the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, and UEFA Euro 2024. In Qatar, he appeared in all three group stage matches, providing two assists in a 3–3 draw against Cameroon. After a period with Portuguese champions S.L. Benfica, he moved to PAOK in September 2020, where he has become a central figure, winning the Greek Cup and the Super League Greece title in the 2023–24 season. During his time in Portugal, he made 84 appearances for Benfica and secured a league title. Since joining PAOK, he has also been recognised as their Player of the Season for the 2020–21 campaign.
