Founded in Cleveland in 1936, the franchise secured its first NFL championship in 1945 before relocating to Los Angeles the following year. The team quickly integrated, signing Kenny Washington and Woody Strode in 1946, becoming pioneers for racial inclusion in the league. During their initial decades in Southern California, the Rams were a cultural force, drawing massive crowds to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and setting attendance records that persisted for decades.

The franchise's trajectory shifted in 1980 when it moved to Anaheim Stadium, driven by a desire to follow suburban population growth and escape the NFL's local television blackout rules. However, the 1980s proved difficult as the team faced competition from other local sports successes and a declining fan base. By 1994, the Rams were struggling to remain relevant in the Los Angeles sports landscape, eventually leading to their relocation to St. Louis in 1995. It was there that the team found success in the 'Greatest Show on Turf' era, winning Super Bowl XXXIV.

After two decades in Missouri, the team returned to Los Angeles in 2016. This second tenure has been defined by a resurgence, culminating in a victory at Super Bowl LVI in 2022. By winning that title at their new home, SoFi Stadium, they became only the second team to win a Super Bowl in their own stadium. Today, the Rams stand as a unique entity in NFL history, having successfully captured championships while representing Cleveland, St. Louis, and Los Angeles.
