In short: Founded in 2015, Oak View Group has rapidly transformed from a boutique management firm into a global powerhouse. By orchestrating massive arena redevelopments and securing billions in sponsorship deals, the company has fundamentally altered how cities host professional sports, concerts, and live events across North America and beyond.

Oak View Group (OVG) was established in 2015 by Tim Leiweke, Irving Azoff, and Daniel Griffis. Headquartered in Denver, the company operates as a multifaceted entity specializing in venue management, commercial real estate, and hospitality. Its business model centers on high-stakes development projects, such as the transformation of Seattle’s historic KeyArena into the modern Climate Pledge Arena. This project, completed in 2021, involved building a subterranean facility while preserving the site's original landmarked roof and exterior walls.

The firm’s influence extends through its aggressive pursuit of naming rights and sponsorship revenue. OVG Global Partnerships has secured over $6.8 billion in sponsorships and 43 naming rights deals, earning consistent recognition for its sales and consulting services. Beyond Seattle, the company has been instrumental in projects like the UBS Arena in New York and the Moody Center in Austin, Texas. In 2021, the company expanded its reach by merging with the venue management firm Spectra, solidifying its position as a full-service leader in the live events industry.

Despite its rapid growth, the company has faced significant legal challenges. In July 2025, co-founder Tim Leiweke was indicted for violating the Sherman Act regarding bid rigging for a college stadium in Texas. Following the indictment, OVG agreed to pay a $15 million fine, and Leiweke stepped down as CEO. Although he received a presidential pardon in December 2025, the event marked a pivotal shift in the company's leadership. Today, OVG continues to pursue international expansion, including joint ventures in Europe, while managing a vast portfolio of arenas that serve as the backbone for professional sports teams and global entertainment tours.
