The boy born on the day of a scandal who scored against his rivals
In short: Vasilije Adžić is rewriting history for Juventus. Born on the exact day of the Calciopoli scandal, he became the youngest player to score in the iconic Derby d'Italia at just 19 years old—a moment that felt like destiny to a club seeking to reclaim its identity.
Adžić’s rise is defined by rapid progression through the Balkan football scene. A Nikšić native, he joined Budućnost during April 2022, debuting professionally at the age of 16 years and 108 days. His first goal—a long-range chip—made him the youngest scorer in the club's history. By 2023, his performances across the Montenegrin First League and UEFA Conference League established him as one of the most promising young talents in the region.
His move to Juventus in July 2024 for a reported €5.3 million fee initially saw him developing with the reserve team, Juventus Next Gen. However, his rapid growth earned him a first-team spot under manager Thiago Motta. He quickly transitioned through various competitions, including Serie A and the UEFA Champions League, before making a permanent promotion to the senior squad ahead of the 2025–26 season.
The pinnacle of his early career arrived on September 13, 2025. Adžić secured a stoppage-time victory in the Derby d'Italia against Inter Milan, becoming Juventus' youngest non-domestic scorer and the youngest person ever to net in that fixture. The timing was noted as poetic; he was born on the same day the club was hit by the Calciopoli scandal. Despite high praise for his creativity and technical ability—often drawing comparisons to Kevin De Bruyne and Steven Gerrard—he also faced intense scrutiny after a mistake led to Juventus' elimination from the Champions League in February 2026.
Currently on loan at Sassuolo with an option to buy for €12 million, Adžić continues to be a versatile presence. Standing at 1.87 m, he operates across multiple positions, combining physical strength with a proficiency for long-range shooting and set pieces that have already earned him the Serie A Goal of the Month award.
