How a teenage playmaker became the new face of Juventus and Italian football
In short: Born in Germany to a Turkish father and German mother, Kenan Yildiz has rapidly ascended to stardom at Juventus. From his youth days at Bayern Munich to becoming the youngest captain in Juventus history, his technical prowess and instinctive goal-scoring have redefined the club's iconic number 10 role.
Kenan Yildiz, born in Regensburg in 2005, began his footballing journey at local academies before joining Bayern Munich at age seven. After a decade of development, he moved to Juventus in 2022 as a free agent. His professional rise was swift; he debuted for the Juventus Next Gen reserve team in December 2022 and earned his first-team Serie A debut in August 2023. By December 2023, he became the club's youngest foreign goalscorer in Serie A at 18 years and 233 days old.
Yildiz is characterized as a modern playmaker, capable of operating as an attacking midfielder, winger, or second striker. His game is defined by powerful long-distance shooting, precise passing, and exceptional dribbling. These traits were on full display during the 2024–25 season, where he scored a goal against Torino that was voted the season's best. His influence continued into the 2025–26 campaign, where he was named Serie A's Best Under-23 Player, having contributed ten goals and six assists in 33 league appearances.
The young talent has also made history on the European stage. In September 2024, he scored the first-ever goal in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League, surpassing club legend Alessandro Del Piero as the team's youngest-ever scorer in the competition. Beyond his club success, Yildiz represents the Turkey national team, having made his international debut in October 2023. His rapid maturity was further highlighted in September 2025, when he captained Juventus at just 20 years old, becoming the youngest player to ever wear the armband for the club.
