The final moments before a journey to the International Space Station
In short: Watch the final pre-launch preparations as Expedition 26 members face the press in Kazakhstan. This footage captures the transition from Earthbound training to the high-stakes reality of orbital flight.
Cady Coleman, Paolo Nespoli, and Dmitry Kondratyev, part of Expedition 26, appear in the footage while holding their concluding press briefing at Kazakhstan's Baikonur Cosmodrome. Before the Wednesday launch, the crew participated in the Expedition 26 State Commission, marking the final official steps before heading to the International Space Station.
While this specific conference focused on the Baikonur launch, it highlights the rigorous communication and preparation required for orbital missions. In contrast, other missions like Crew-13 have pushed the limits of speed, with SpaceX Dragon spacecraft reaching orbit and targeting docking times that represent the fastest launch-to-docking history for the station.
