The final days of preparation before journeying to the International Space Station
In short: Watch the final preparations of the Expedition 27 crew as they transition from Earth to orbit. This footage captures the rigorous rituals and technical checks required before a Soyuz TMA-21 launch.
From 17 to 25 March, Kazakhstan's Baikonur Cosmodrome hosted vital training for the team, which included Russian Flight Engineer Andrey Borisenko, NASA Flight Engineer Ron Garan, and Commander Alexander Samokutyaev.
The footage documents the transition from terrestrial life to spaceflight, featuring suit fit checks inside the Soyuz TMA-21 spacecraft, traditional ceremonies like flag-raising at the Cosmonaut Hotel, and the logistical arrival at the launch site. These activities served as the final countdown for their March 30 departure to the International Space Station.
