A first for space: the transition to contracted cargo resupply
In short: Watch the historic launch of the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft as it begins a new era of logistics for the International Space Station. This video captures a pivotal shift in how we maintain our presence in orbit.
To perform the initial commercial cargo delivery for the International Space Station, a Falcon 9 rocket carried the Dragon spacecraft from Space Exploration Technologies Corporation. This mission marks a significant milestone in the evolution of orbital logistics, moving toward a model of contracted services for essential space infrastructure.
The video provides context on this milestone alongside other space developments, including updates on cybersecurity, the Antares rollout, and the ongoing study of the Hubble constant.
