The European Space Agency reveals its newest astronauts' upcoming missions to the stars
Following their graduation from basic training, the European Space Agency has officially assigned the first flight opportunities to members of its 2022 astronaut cohort. This video covers the announcement made by the ESA Director General regarding these upcoming missions to the International Space Station.
In May 2024, ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher confirmed the first two flight assignments for the agency's 2022 astronaut class. This group, which includes five individuals, finished a year of foundational training at the European Astronaut Centre in Germany and received their certification on 22 April 2024.
Once aboard the International Space Station, these astronauts will perform a variety of duties. Their responsibilities will span from executing medical and scientific research to monitoring the Earth, managing operational tasks, and conducting public outreach.
