How a Saudi powerhouse built esports superteams through high-profile signings
In short: Founded in 2017 by 2018 FIFA eWorld Cup winner Mossaad "Msdossary" Al-Dossary, Team Falcons has become a dominant force in global esports. By aggressively recruiting elite players and coaches, the organization has constructed formidable rosters across multiple disciplines, from Dota 2 to Counter-Strike 2.
Team Falcons has built a reputation for constructing 'superteams' by targeting high-profile players and coaches with significant professional success. This strategy has seen them field rosters in diverse titles including Apex Legends, Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Valorant, and Rocket League. Their influence spans multiple regions, including MENA, EMEA, and Asia, with a branding focus similar to the American organization FaZe Clan.
The organization's rise has not been without controversy. Some media pundits have likened Falcons' aggressive expansion into various esports titles to 'sportswashing.' Furthermore, the pursuit of elite talent has faced resistance; Canadian Counter-Strike player 'Twistzz' famously declined an offer, stating he prioritized his career and morals over the financial incentives offered by the organization.
The team's competitive success is notable across several major titles. In Dota 2, they secured the Aegis of Champions at The International 2025 in Hamburg, Germany, under coach Kurtis "Aui_2000" Ling. In Counter-Strike 2, they achieved significant milestones, including winning the Cologne 2026 Major and the PGL Bucharest 2025 trophy. Their dominance is further evidenced by winning the Esports World Cup Club Championship in both 2024 and 2025.
Beyond pure competition, Falcons has expanded into physical fan experiences. During the Gamers8 festival in Riyadh, they established dedicated spaces like Falcons Arena and Falcons District, which featured gaming tournaments, a museum of their accomplishments, and an academy titled 'Learn to be a PRO'.
