In short: Significant changes are hitting the race schedule and competitor roster ahead of the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series' 46th year. From veteran returns to brand new manufacturer alliances, the landscape of American stock car racing is about to look very different.

Starting on February 20, the 46th iteration of this championship features the United Rentals 300 at Daytona International Speedway. The campaign will conclude on November 13 at the Homestead–Miami Speedway. The schedule, which was fully revealed on August 26, 2026, features a diverse mix of 29 oval tracks, three road courses, and one street race.

Significant changes are occurring within the driver rosters and team structures. Both Jesse Love and Austin Hill are scheduled to transition to full-time roles in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2 and 2027. Love will join Wood Brothers Racing, while Hill will move to the Richard Childress Racing Cup program. This departure leaves Carson Brown to take over the No. 2 seat at Richard Childress Racing. Additionally, Hill's former position will be occupied by Chandler Smith, marking his first O'Reilly Series appearance since 2024.

The competitive landscape is also being reshaped by team movements and manufacturer shifts. Alpha Prime Racing will switch from Chevrolet to Ford for the 2027 season. Driver movements are widespread: Lee Pulliam remains with Peterson Racing in the No. 87, while Harrison Burton joins the same team from Sam Hunt Racing. Other notable shifts include Sam Mayer returning to JR Motorsports and Sheldon Creed moving to Sam Hunt Racing. The schedule also sees the return of Watkins Glen International to 'The Chase' and the addition of North Wilkesboro Speedway and Richmond Raceway, marking the first time North Wilkesboro has appeared on the schedule since 1985.
