In short: The road to the 2027 AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup is a high-stakes race for excellence. While some giants have already secured their seats, thirty ambitious teams are fighting through a rigorous qualification process to claim the remaining places in China.

China will host the 11th version of the AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup, following a series of qualifying stages. While the tournament will ultimately host 12 teams, the field is not entirely up for grabs. The host nation, China, has already secured its position. Joining them are the top three performers from the 2026 tournament: North Korea, Japan, and Australia. These four nations bypass the qualification rounds entirely. Notably, China's presence in the tournament is bolstered by their recent success, having earned a spot in the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

The remaining eight slots are determined through a competitive qualification phase scheduled to take place between 5 and 11 October 2026. For this cycle, 30 teams from the 47 member associations of the Asian Football Confederation entered the competition. To manage this large field, the AFC organized the teams into eight distinct groups: six groups consisting of four teams each, and two groups of three. The draw for these groups was conducted on 16 July 2026, at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The intensity of the competition is reflected in the scoring, as the previous matches saw 231 goals scored across 3ly matches, averaging nearly six goals per game.

The allocation process was not random. Teams were seeded using a points system based on their final rankings from the previous three editions of the tournament. Additionally, the organizers implemented a specific restriction to ensure variety, placing the eight teams serving as qualification group hosts into separate groups. To be eligible for this specific tournament, players must have been born on or after 1 January 2010. This complex seeding structure ensures that the tournament remains a true test of continental standing.
