The accidental apostle: how a senseless death led to divine intervention
In short: When a Japanese teenager named Shiinya Kazuya was killed by a thug, he didn't just perish. He was reincarnated into the Esfort Kingdom as Cain Von Silford, carrying the blessings of seven gods and a mission to protect a world from an ancient, awakening evil.
The transition from a modern life to the nobility of the Esfort Kingdom was not a matter of fate, but of divine reaction to a tragedy. According to the seven gods, the death of Shiinya Kazuya was fundamentally unnecessary; his killer could have been stopped before any harm occurred. However, Cain’s decision to needlessly shield others during the incident earned him the status of an Apostle, granting him powers that far exceed those of any other human. This divine intervention was facilitated by the gods' direct involvement in his rebirth. He now serves as the third son of the noble Von Silford family.
This immense power comes with significant political and social complications. While Cain uses his abilities to punish evildoers and protect the innocent, his actions often draw the scrutiny of powerful figures like the King of Esfort, Rex Terra Esfort. The King has even used Cain's status to arrange political engagements, pairing him with Telestia Terra Esfort and Silk von Santana. Despite his loathing for the complexities of noble etiquette, Cain has found himself navigating a web of alliances and growing engagements. His social circle is expanding rapidly, including the elf knight Tifana, who became his third fiancée after a defeat in a mock battle. He also faces pressure from the Duke or Marquis Corgino.
As Cain prepares for the eventual awakening of a deity sealed away for centuries, his life is a constant struggle between his immense magical potential and the burdens of his station. From managing the financial interests of Silk to facing assassination attempts that revealed the corruption of the Marineford religion's Pope, the young aristocrat must balance his personal growth with the heavy responsibility of being the gods' chosen protector. His journey is supported by figures like his sister Reine, who educated him on the kingdom's customs since his toddler years. Even his tutors, such as the B-rank swordsman Nina, play a role in his development.
