She was destined to be a saint, but she only wants to be a maid.
In short: In the otome game "Five Oaths of the Saint", the protagonist is supposed to follow a rigid plot. But Celeste McMurdon has no interest in destiny or romance. Instead, she is using powerful magic to fulfill a single, singular dream: becoming the perfect maid.
The series follows Celeste McMurdon, who reincarnates into a fantasy world after dying in a plane crash. In her previous life as Ritsuko Mizunami, she was a highly intelligent child who became obsessed with the concept of being a maid after a trip to England. This obsession drives her new life; she is so focused on her vocation that she remains entirely unaware that she has become the heroine of a scripted otome game.
Celeste's magic is immense—powerful enough that others could use it to conquer the world—yet she uses it for domestic efficiency, such as creating magical clones to manage her household tasks. Her ability to perform complex magic stems from the subconscious calculations she learned during her life as Ritsuko. To protect her dream from being derailed by her noble lineage, she uses magic to hide her true hair and eye color, operating under the alias Melody Wave.
The narrative creates a complex web of connections. Celeste is the illegitimate daughter of Count Regibas and the former maid Celina. Her presence in the world inadvertently alters the fates of others, such as Luciana Rutleberg, a young heiress who was originally destined for a miserable life. Even other reincarnated characters, like the crown prince Christopher Von Théolas and the villainess Anna-Marie Victirium, find their lives intersecting with Celeste's, though she remains oblivious to the grand drama unfolding around her.
