In short: Cecil, a prince with a hereditary mental disorder, finds himself bored until his fiancée, Bertia, begins acting like the villainess of an otome game. While he initially dismisses her behavior as madness, her uncanny ability to predict future events forces him to take a deeper interest in her strange antics.

Cecil Glo Alphasta is the first prince of his nation, burdened by a hereditary mental disorder that manifests as a form of psychopathy. His father advised him that finding the right person could bring him joy and help him feel love. This search leads him to his fiancée, Bertia Ibil Noches, who claims to be a reincarnated soul from another world. Bertia believes she is the villainess of an otome game and insists that Cecil must pair with the game's heroine, Heronia, to ensure the country's peace and his own happiness. Consequently, she constantly attempts to sabotage her own engagement through bizarre, impulsive behavior.

Despite her efforts to act as a villain, Bertia's genuine kindness and clumsiness make her endearing to those around her, earning her a dedicated fan club. Cecil, amused by her antics and intrigued by her psychic-like predictions, chooses to remain engaged to her. He secretly uses the information she organizes to resolve future issues, effectively protecting her while allowing her to continue her role-playing. Through her influence, Cecil becomes more considerate, takes his royal duties seriously, and develops deep, genuine love for her, finding color in a life that was previously dull.

The narrative is complicated by the arrival of the current Heronia, another reincarnator who feels entitled to the affections of the game's original 'capture targets.' Unlike the kind heroine of the original game, this Heronia is selfish and delusional, failing to realize that the world around her is real. Her attempts to force the game's plot lead to conflict, eventually resulting in her exile to a monastery. Meanwhile, Bertia remains oblivious to her own influence, even unknowingly contracting a spirit of darkness named Kuro, who protects her while she remains active during the day.
