In short: Imagine being digitized and launched into a neon-lit grid at nearly 60 mph. Inspired by the visual language of Tron: Legacy, this high-speed launch coaster transforms riders into lightcycles, racing through a digital landscape to capture energy gates and escape back to the real world.

The Tron Lightcycle Power Run is a semi-enclosed, launched roller coaster that brings the digital aesthetics of the Tron franchise to life. Primarily inspired by the 2010 film Tron: Legacy, the attraction features specialized motorbike-style seating designed by Walt Disney Imagineering to mimic the lightcycles seen on screen. Riders lean forward, gripping handlebars, and are secured by a pad behind the seat. While most riders experience the high-speed thrill on standard lightcycle seats, some trains include modified seating at the rear to accommodate larger riders with traditional restraints.

The experience begins with a pre-show where guests are 'digitized' via a transparent screen, followed by a queue that introduces the competitive landscape of the Grid. Riders join 'Team Blue' and must navigate a series of twists and turns to capture eight 'Energy Gates' to survive the Power Run. The ride reaches maximum speeds of nearly 60 mph (97 km/h), making it one of the fastest Disney roller coasters at the time of its Shanghai debut in 2016.

The attraction has seen different iterations across the globe. Shanghai Disneyland saw the initial iteration debut on 16 June 2016. Following pandemic-related setbacks, a similar version launched at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom on 4 April 2023. A distinct seasonal overlay based on Tron: Ares—utilising red illumination and Nine Inch Nails' music—is set for late 2025 at both Walt Disney World and Shanghai Disney Resorts, returning to its blue-themed state by early 2026.
