The 2024 Baltimore Ravens achieved an unprecedented statistical offensive feat
In short: After a shaky 0–2 start, the Baltimore Ravens transformed into a historic powerhouse. They became the first team in NFL history to record both 4,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards in a single regular season, pairing elite efficiency with a relentless ground game.
The 2024 season was a study in extremes for the Ravens. Following a difficult start that saw them fall to 0–2 for the first time since 2015, the team underwent a massive resurgence. They won 12 of their final 15 games to finish 12–5, securing the AFC North title in Week 18 with a victory over the Cleveland Browns. This late-season surge included nine wins against opponents with winning records, helping the franchise clinch its sixth playoff appearance in seven years.
The statistical achievements of the offense were nothing short of historic. The team accumulated 7,224 total offensive yards, the highest mark in franchise history. Beyond the yardage, the Ravens became the first team ever to achieve the 4,000-passing and 3,000-rushing yard milestone in one season. Their efficiency was equally remarkable; the offense was ranked as the 4th most efficient since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. Their 5.8 yards per carry average stood as the second-highest in NFL history, trailing only the 1948 San Francisco 49ers.
Individual performances anchored this historic run. With a 119.6 passer rating, which ranks 4th all-time for a single season, Jackson led a historic run where Ravens teammates earned Offensive Player of the Week honours across four straight weeks (Derrick Henry in weeks 4 and 6; Jackson in weeks 5 and 7). The record for the highest number of rushing yards by an NFL quarterback was also surpassed by Jackson, overtaking Michael Vick's previous mark. Meanwhile, wide receiver Zay Flowers became the first Ravens receiver to earn a Pro Bowl selection.
Despite these regular-season milestones, the postseason run ended in the Divisional Round with a 27–25 defeat to the Buffalo Bills. The season was also marked by moments of transition, as the team publicly honored the late wide receiver Jacoby Jones and coach Joe D'Alessandris.
