In short: A foot arthritis issue compelled Christopher Paul Davies to end his professional football career at 19. Rather than leaving the pitch, he pivoted to coaching, building a reputation for tactical analysis that would eventually lead him to the manager's seat at Birmingham City.

A Watford native born on 27 March 1985, Davies represented Wales at the U17, U18, and U19 levels after playing in Reading's youth system. His playing career ended prematurely in 2004, but his transition into coaching was swift. After gaining a first-class Sport Science degree from Loughborough University in 2007, he pursued UEFA coaching licences and mentored youth squads in New Zealand, the US, and England.

Davies's ascent in the coaching ranks was closely tied to his long-standing professional relationship with Brendan Rodgers. He served as an assistant to Rodgers at Swansea City, where he specialised in opposition analysis and tactics during their Premier League promotion. He later moved with Rodgers to Liverpool in June 2012, and subsequently to Celtic, where they achieved a domestic treble and set a 100-year-old record by going 69 matches unbeaten. After a stint at Leicester City, where he helped secure the 2021 FA Cup, Davies moved to Tottenham Hotspur as a senior assistant to Ange Postecoglou.

In June 2024, Davies was appointed Men’s First Team Manager of Birmingham City, signing a four-year contract. His impact was immediate; in his first season, he led the club to the League One title, securing an immediate return to the Championship. During this successful campaign, the team achieved a record-breaking run of ten consecutive home wins and was on track for a record points tally of 95 points with six games remaining. His tactical expertise earned him the Sky Bet Manager of the Month award in February.
