In short: Daniel Podence's career has been defined by sudden shifts and high-stakes transfers. After a traumatic departure from Sporting CP following a violent supporter attack, the Portuguese winger navigated the Premier League and Greek football, eventually finding himself in the Saudi Pro League by late 2024.

Born in Oeiras, Lisbon, on 21 October 1995, Podence's professional journey began in the youth system of Sporting CP. His early career was marked by a significant turning point on 1 June 2018, when he terminated his contract with the club following a violent attack on players by a number of their own supporters. Before his senior debut for the club's reserves, he had already joined the Sporting CP youth academy before turning ten.

Following that exit, Podence joined Olympiacos on a five-year deal in July 2018. His time in Greece was highly successful, including winning the 2019–20 Super League Greece. His performances earned him a £16.9 million move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2020, where he made his debut against Manchester United at Old Trafford. During his initial stint in Greece, he managed to score in a Champions League fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. He also secured a victory in the Super League Greece during the 2019–20 season.

Podence's tenure in the English Premier League included notable moments, such as being named Sky Sports' 'Player of the match' after a performance against Everton in July 2020. However, by the 2023–24 campaign, he had fallen out of favour at Wolves, leading to a loan return to Olympiacos, where he helped the team win the UEFA Conference League. He also achieved a notable brace during an FA Cup match against Sheffield United.

His career has continued to evolve geographically. In September 2024, he moved to the Saudi Pro League club Al Shabab, before returning to Olympiacos for a third spell in 2025. Throughout his career, he has also represented Portugal at the senior level, making his full debut in 2020 during a Nations League match against Sweden. His international journey began with the under-21 side, where he scored in his first two appearances.
