In short: From local services in Charlotte to massive Billboard charts, Elevation Worship has transformed contemporary Christian music. With over 1.5 million albums sold in the United States, this collective has moved from independent releases to international tours and Grammy-nominated recordings, reshaping how modern congregations experience worship.

Originating in 2007, Elevation Worship started at Charlotte, North Carolina's Elevation Church. Initially operating as Elevation Church Live, the group released four independent albums—The Sound, We Are Alive, God With Us, and Kingdom Come—before transitioning to the Essential Records label. Their breakthrough arrived with the 2010 release of Kingdom Come, which reached No. 17 on the Christian Albums chart and featured the song "Give Me Faith."

The group's ascent continued through a series of high-charting live recordings. Their 2011 debut under Sony Music Nashville, For the Honor, reached No. 19 on the Christian Albums chart. By 2014, the collective was hitting significant milestones, with Only King Forever debuting at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 and featuring guest vocalist Darlene Zschech from Hillsong Worship. This era marked a period of rapid expansion, including the release of Wake Up The Wonder in late 2014, which hit No. 1 on Billboard's Christian Album chart.

As the collective matured, they diversified their output, releasing their first Spanish-language album, Lo Harás Otra Vez, in 2017. They also moved toward self-publishing with their own label, Elevation Worship Records. The group's influence is reflected in both commercial and cultural metrics; they have earned one Grammy Award and 8 Dove Awards. Interestingly, a 2024 survey by the dating app SALT suggested that Elevation Worship fans possess the 5th most liked dating profiles among Christian singles globally.

The collective remains a dominant force in the industry, with recent successes including the 2021 collaboration Old Church Basement and the 2023 live album Can You Imagine?, which reached the top of the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart.
