In short: After dying from exhaustion, a Japanese salaryman is granted a divine do-over in a mysterious forest. Armed with a magical, shape-shifting farming implement, he transforms a desolate wilderness into a bustling village, eventually leading a diverse community of elves, angels, and demons while navigating the complexities of his new life.

The story follows Hiraku Machio, a man whose previous existence was defined by relentless overwork and chronic illness. Upon his death, a deity offers him a fresh start in a new world, providing him with an Almighty Farming Tool. This versatile implement allows him to manifest any agricultural tool he requires, serving as the foundation for his transition from a weary office worker to the mayor of Great Tree Village.

Located in the dangerous Forest of Death, the settlement begins as a solitary project but rapidly expands as various species arrive. The village population grows to include high-elves, who introduce advanced construction and baking techniques, alongside ogre maids, lizardmen, and beastmen. The community is protected by a unique security force consisting of inferno wolves and a giant demon spider named Zabuton, who alerts the mayor to potential intruders.

The social dynamics of the village are as complex as its agricultural output. Hiraku eventually enters into a harem, marrying several women including a vampire princess named Ru and an angel known as the Annihilation Angel, Tia. These relationships are complicated by the protagonist's immense stamina and his wives' varying motivations, ranging from genuine affection to the strategic goal of continuing their bloodlines. Despite these eccentricities, the village thrives through the contributions of specialized residents, such as elder dwarves who manage the distillation process and researchers who introduce cattle and fermentation.

Since its inception in 2016, the narrative has evolved from a web-based project into a massive franchise spanning light novels, manga, and an anime series. The village itself serves as a melting pot of fantasy cultures, where diplomatic relations are managed by a dragon diplomat, and the infrastructure is maintained by a dedicated housing manager. It remains a study in how a simple desire to farm can catalyze the creation of a complex, thriving society from scratch.
