From undrafted rookie to Super Bowl champion, the unlikely rise of Jackson David Bobo
In short: Born in 1998, Jackson David Bobo navigated a path from high school standout in Massachusetts to the NFL. After playing for Duke and UCLA, he went undrafted in 2023. Yet, through consistent play and a viral locker room mantra, he secured a roster spot and eventually a Super Bowl ring.
Jackson David Bobo, born August 4, 1998, began his football journey at the Belmont Hill School in North Andover, Massachusetts. A three-time All-Independent School League selection, he helped his team secure a New England Prep School championship before committing to Duke. His college career was marked by steady growth, transitioning from a freshman contributor to a key target who led the Blue Devils in receiving yards during his junior year. After a final season at UCLA, where he recorded 817 yards and seven touchdowns, he entered the professional ranks.
The 2023 NFL draft passed without Bobo being selected, but the Seattle Seahawks signed him as an undrafted free agent in May. During his first training camp, his reliability impressed teammates and coaches alike. Running backs coach Chad Morton originated the catchphrase 'More Bobo' to describe his consistent playmaking, a sentiment that quickly resonated with stars like Geno Smith and Kenneth Walker III. This momentum helped him earn a spot on the 53-man roster, where he appeared in every game of his rookie season, contributing both as a receiver and a rusher.
Bobo's professional trajectory reached a peak in the 2025 season. He played a pivotal role in the Seahawks' success, including a touchdown reception in the NFC Championship victory over the Los Angeles Rams. He capped the campaign by participating in Super Bowl LX, where Seattle defeated the New England Patriots 29–13 to earn him his first championship title. Despite facing challenges, such as a knee injury in 2026 that landed him on injured reserve, his career remains a testament to persistence.
Football talent runs deep in the family. His father, Mike, played wide receiver at Dartmouth, and his grandfather, Keith, was a 1974 draft pick for the Dallas Cowboys. Beyond the field, Bobo's life reached a personal milestone in June 2026 when he married Mackenzie Cole at the Duke University Chapel. His journey from an overlooked prospect to a Super Bowl winner highlights the unpredictable nature of professional sports careers.
