How removing underwear allows a student to rewind time
In short: In Yuichi Hiiragi's manga, the perfect student council president possesses a bizarre supernatural ability. By removing an article of her underwear, Takane Takamine can undo mistakes and rewind time. However, her secret comes with a high price: a classmate who must act as her "closet."
Serialized in Square Enix's Monthly Gangan Joker since January 2019, the series follows high schooler Koushi Shirota. After witnessing Takane Takamine changing her clothes, he discovers her secret: she can manipulate time by removing her underwear, which then disappears. Because he saw her naked, he is uniquely able to travel back in time alongside her.
This ability was acquired during her childhood following a deeply embarrassing incident where she wet herself. To maintain her reputation as the school's "madonna," Takamine forces Shirota to serve as her "closet." His role is to replace her discarded underwear with fresh ones whenever she uses her power, ensuring she remains prepared for her next attempt at perfection.
The narrative explores the complex relationship between the two, revealing that Takamine has harbored romantic feelings for Shirota since they were children playing with a stray cat in a park. While the series has been collected into eleven tankōbon volumes as of February 2026, it has also faced critical scrutiny. While some critics enjoyed the ludicrous elements, others found the writing occasionally mean-spirited or problematic due to specific plot developments.
The franchise expanded beyond the page when an anime adaptation produced by Liden Films aired between April and June 2025. The series has gained international recognition, with Yen Press licensing the manga for North American audiences in 2021, following an announcement at the 2020 New York Comic Con.
