In short: Sreenidi Deccan FC didn't start as a professional powerhouse. It began as a grassroots academy in Hyderabad in 2015. In just seven years, it scaled from training U13 kids to securing a direct spot in the I-League and forging a high-level partnership with one of Portugal's biggest football giants.

Founded in January 2015 in Aziznagar, the Sreenidi football academy initially focused on youth development for U13, U15, and U18 age groups. It took four years of grassroots work to earn its first accreditation from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) in June 2019. The club's professional trajectory accelerated rapidly following an AIFF invitation in June 2020, which led to Sreenidi Deccan being granted direct playing rights for the 2021–22 I-League season.

The club's rapid ascent was marked by significant milestones. In 2021, they reached the final of the IFA Shield, finishing as runners-up after a 2–1 loss to Real Kashmir. They also secured a third-place finish in their maiden league campaign, finishing with 32 points in 18 matches. To bolster their professional standing, the club appointed Portuguese manager Carlos Vaz Pinto in August 2022 and eventually entered a strategic partnership with the Portuguese giant S.L. Benfica on October 29, 2023. This deal focused on elite areas like strength and conditioning, nutrition, psychology, and youth development.

Despite this growth, the club's journey has seen volatility. While they achieved a second-place finish in the 2022–23 I-League season, they narrowly missed promotion to the Indian Super League as runners-up in the 2023–24 campaign. The 2024–25 season proved much more difficult, with the club finishing in ninth place with 28 points. The club's infrastructure also faced hurdles; while they proposed using the 27,500-capacity DYSSR Stadium in Visakhapatnam, COVID-19 forced all league games to be played in centralized venues in West Bengal, meaning the stadium was never utilized.
