From the Big Brother house to the Star Wars galaxy
In short: Will Kirby is a rare example of a modern polymath who successfully navigated the worlds of high-level medicine, reality television, and cinematic performance. While many see a reality star, his career spans complex medical authorship, national speaking engagements, and a diverse portfolio of television appearances.
Born in Florence, Italy, in 1973, Will Kirby’s trajectory is defined by a transition from rigorous academic achievement to public entertainment. After graduating with a biology qualification from Emory University in 1995, he finished his medical studies at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine during 2000. Today, he serves as an associate clinical professor of dermatology and the Chief Medical Officer at LaserAway, where he specializes in aesthetic dermatology and laser tattoo removal. He attended kindergarten in Paris before moving to Florida. He graduated from Florida State University School in 1991.
Kirby’s medical contributions include publishing in The Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology and authoring the Kirby-Desai Scale, the first predictive tool for assessing laser tattoo removal treatments. He has also written textbook chapters on medical ethics and medicolegal considerations. Beyond the clinic, he has served as a national spokesman for Neutrogena Dermatologics and appeared as a medical correspondent for Extra!, bridging the gap between clinical expertise and mass media. He also lectured at national medical conventions. He appeared live on QVC for Johnson & Johnson.
His television career is equally expansive, beginning with his victory on CBS's Big Brother 2 in 2001. He has appeared on numerous programs, including Dr. 90210, The Talk, and the Star Wars series The Book of Boba Fett, where he portrays the bounty hunter Karales. Even his personal life reflects a unique breadth of interests; he is the son of poet David Kirby and currently serves as the caretaker of a bicephalid Trachemys scripta elegans, a rare two-headed turtle. He won The Price Is Right and appeared on Robot Chicken. He retired from reality TV in 2025.
