The man who broke the NCAA's all-time scoring ceiling
In short: Most athletes aim for a perfect season; Will Reichard achieved it with mathematical precision. By combining elite accuracy with historic volume, he became the most prolific scorer in college football history, eventually breaking records that stood as benchmarks for the nation.
Will Reichard's ascent to the pinnacle of college football is defined by unprecedented consistency. While playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide, he achieved a feat of near-perfection in 2020: going 98-for-98 on both field goals and extra points. This performance made him only the second player in Alabama history to ever accomplish such a streak during a single season.
His impact was measured not just in accuracy, but in sheer volume. Reichard broke Daniel Carlson’s previous mark to become the Southeastern Conference (SEC) all-time leading scorer, reaching 486 points during 2023. He further cemented his legacy by tying the NCAA's all-time scoring mark of 530 points during a game against Auburn, before officially breaking that record the following week in the SEC Championship Game.
Transitioning to the professional ranks with the Minnesota Vikings, Reichard has maintained his status as an elite specialist. In 2025, he set a new franchise record with a 62-yard field goal against the Cincinnati Bengals. Despite the higher stakes of the NFL, where variables like equipment interference—such as a disputed Skycam wire strike—can impact outcomes, Reichard finished the 2025 season missing only two out of 35 field goal attempts, earning him a spot on the first-team NFL All Pro roster.
Reichard's journey reflects a deliberate path of development. From starting at Kohl's Kicking Camps in the 6th grade to navigating an eligibility extension due to the COVID-19 pandemic, his career is a study in sustained excellence across three different levels of competition: high school, NCAA Division I FBS, and the NFL.
