In short: In just a few seasons, Willian Pacho has transformed from a teenage substitute in Ecuador to a continental champion in Europe. His journey through the ranks of Independiente del Valle and Royal Antwerp has culminated in a historic move to Paris Saint-Germain and unprecedented success on the grandest stage.

Born on 16 October 2001 in Quinindé, Ecuador, Willian Joel Pacho Tenorio has experienced a meteoric ascent in professional football. His career began in earnest with Independiente del Valle, where he transitioned from a non-playing substitute during their 2018 U-20 Copa Libertadores run to a vital defensive component of their success. By 2020, Pacho was a central figure in the club's U-20 Copa Libertadores triumph, starting key knockout matches against Flamengo and River Plate.

His defensive reliability helped lead Independiente del Valle to their first Ecuadorian League title in 2021, a feat achieved while Pacho was just 16 years old. This success caught the attention of European scouts, leading to a move to Belgian side Royal Antwerp on 28 January 2022. After an initial period of adaptation under coach Brian Priske, Pacho became a mainstay in the defense under Mark van Bommel, eventually securing a move to Eintracht Frankfurt in early 2023.

Pacho's impact in Germany was significant; during the 2023–24 season, he appeared in 42 matches and ranked among the club's top performers for completed passes and duels won. This form facilitated a high-profile transfer to Paris Saint-Germain on 9 August 2024 for a reported fee of €40 million, potentially rising to €45 million. He made history as PSG's first Ecuadorian player, eventually becoming the first Ecuadorian to win the UEFA Champions League following a 5–0 victory over Inter Milan on 31 May 2025.

Beyond club success, Pacho has become a cornerstone for the Ecuador national team. After making his international debut on 28 March 2023 against Australia, he has continued to represent his country in major tournaments, including the 2024 Copa América and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
