The final countdown: Inside the rigorous preparation for ISS missions
In short: Before astronauts reach the International Space Station, they undergo grueling final testing and systemic reviews. This video explores the high-stakes preparation required for the Expedition 36/37 and Crew-13 missions, highlighting the international cooperation behind every launch.
The video details the final preparations for the Expedition 36/37 crew, which included Commander Fyodor Yurchikhin, NASA Flight Engineer Karen Nyberg, and ESA Flight Engineer Luca Parmitano. They conducted final testing in Star City, Russia, ahead of their May 29 launch aboard a Soyuz TMA-09M spacecraft.
It also examines the logistical complexity of the Crew-13 mission, which involves a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch from Cape Canaveral.
