In short: Created as a biological backup for a dying child, Stryfe was destined for chaos. A clone of the hero Cable, this supervillain was raised by the tyrant Apocalypse, leading to a lifelong quest for vengeance against the parents he believes abandoned him.

Stryfe is a clone of Nathan Summers, created by Mother Askani as a biological insurance policy. The goal was to ensure a viable survivor in case Nathan succumbed to a techno-organic virus. While the Askani eventually managed to halt the virus in the original Nathan, the clone was instead kidnapped by the tyrant Apocalypse, who intended to use the child as a vessel for his own essence.

The attempt failed when Apocalypse discovered the child was a clone, unable to serve as a proper host. Following the dispersal of Apocalypse's essence, Stryfe was raised by Ch'vayre, Apocalypse's second-in-command. This upbringing forged an embittered madman who seeks vengeance against his perceived biological parents, Cyclops and Jean Grey, as well as his spiritual father, Apocalypse.

In combat, Stryfe possesses immense psionic power, including telepathy and telekinesis. He is notably more powerful than his counterpart, Cable, because he was never infected by the techno-organic virus. Consequently, he does not need to expend energy constantly fighting the virus to prevent it from consuming his body. His abilities include mind control, telepathic camouflage, and the ability to negate the powers of others.

Stryfe's history is marked by temporal shifts and complex allegiances. He has traveled two thousand years through time and led the Mutant Liberation Front. Despite his villainy, his narrative arc includes moments of profound regret and even self-sacrifice, such as when he absorbed the entity Le Bete Noir to save Earth, though his true motivations remain a subject of suspicion among allies like Gambit.
