From humble beginnings to the top tier: the rapid rise of Kanchanaburi Power
In short: Established in 2017, Kanchanaburi Power has undergone a whirlwind transformation. From its origins in the fourth tier to a historic promotion to Thai League 1, the club has navigated dramatic cup runs, high-profile international signings, and a total structural overhaul to redefine its identity as The Iron Horse.
Founded in 2017 as Singha Golden Bells Muangkan, the club initially competed in the fourth-tier Thailand Amateur League. By 2020, it had secured promotion to Thai League 3. The club's trajectory accelerated significantly during the 2023–24 season, when it became the first team in Thai football history to reach the Thai FA Cup final after starting from the first round. Despite a narrow loss on penalties to Bangkok United on 15 June 2024, the club's reputation was cemented by a record-breaking 13–0 victory over Namphong United in October 2023.
The club rebranded as Kanchanaburi Power in June 2024, adopting a horse logo and the nickname 'The Iron Horse.' This era saw ambitious recruitment, including former Premier League players like Andros Townsend and Aboubakar Kamara. However, their debut 2025–26 campaign in Thai League 1 proved difficult, ending in relegation. Management attributed this failure to systemic inadequacies in tactical systems, squad discipline, and physical fitness, prompting a major strategic pivot.
To address these shortcomings, the club appointed South Korean manager Park Hang-seo to lead a comprehensive rebuilding project. This 'DNA' overhaul prioritizes physical conditioning, strict discipline, and the establishment of a formal youth academy. Furthering this commitment to long-term development, the club signed a collaboration agreement with FC Seoul in May 2026. This partnership focuses on sports science and technical coaching exchanges, aiming to create a sustainable pipeline of local talent capable of competing at the highest professional levels.
