In short: When 14-year-old Iruma Suzuki was sold by his neglectful parents to a demon, his survival depended on a dangerous secret. To avoid being eaten, he must navigate the Babyls School for Demons without ever revealing his true human identity.

The series, written by Osamu Nishi, follows Iruma's life after he is adopted by the powerful demon Sullivan. To help the boy blend in, Sullivan enrolls him in the Babyls School for Demons and places him in the Misfit Class, a group of notorious troublemakers intended to mask Iruma's presence through their own notoriety. This placement was intended to camouflage him among other eccentric students. His classmates in this group include Alice Asmodeus and Clara Valac.

Iruma's survival is aided by the adaptability and agility he developed while working various odd jobs to support himself in the human world. Despite his efforts to remain inconspicuous, his kindness and the eccentricity of his guardian, Sullivan, often cause him to stand out. He eventually forms a core trio with classmates Alice Asmodeus and Clara Valac. His unique experiences in the human world provided him with essential survival skills. This newfound agility helps him navigate his new life.

The narrative explores a complex social hierarchy defined by demonic ranks. While Iruma began at the lowest rank, Aleph, due to an irregular placement exam involving the Ring of Gluttony, his recent performance has placed him at rank 5.5, positioned between the He and Vau ranks. This makes him the second-highest ranked student in the school. During his placement exams, he received the Ring of Gluttony from a Demonic Prophecy. This unexpected item resulted in his initial low ranking.

The series has achieved significant commercial success. The manga has been serialized in Weekly Shōnen Champion since March 2017, with 51 tankōbon volumes released as of October 2026. By March 2026, the manga and its various spin-offs had reached over 20 million copies in circulation. The story has also been adapted into an anime series by BN Pictures. This production features multiple seasons aired on NHK Educational TV.
