In short: Most football clubs must grind through years of semi-professional lower divisions to reach the elite. Fortis FC broke that mold. By securing a direct green light from the national federation, they bypassed the traditional hierarchy to debut immediately in professional competition, backed by a strategy of rapid, high-profile recruitment.

In 2020, the Bangladesh Football Federation granted Fortis FC a rare exemption: the ability to enter professional football directly through the Bangladesh Championship League. This meant the club did not have to navigate the standard semi-professional lower divisions in Dhaka. This fast-track entry was part of a broader development project by the Fortis Group, which established the Fortis Sports Academy Limited to create a pipeline for future international talent.

The club's strategy was defined by aggressive investment and regional identity. Despite being based in Badda, Dhaka, the club prioritizes players from the Chittagong Division, reflecting the origins of its majority ownership. To ensure immediate competitiveness, the club signed ten players with Premier League experience before their debut, including notable figures like Khan Mohammad Tara and former national striker Towhidul Alam Towhid. They were led by head coach Akbor Hossain Ridon during this initial phase.

The transition was nearly delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced a one-year postponement of their 2019–20 debut. When they finally took the pitch on February 8, 2021, they proved their readiness by finishing third in their debut season, trailing the leaders by only two points. By the 2021–22 season, the club achieved a remarkable 31-game unbeaten streak, eventually securing promotion to the Bangladesh Premier League on June 1, 2022, after a 5–0 victory over Kawran Bazar.

The club's success is rooted in a balance of scouting and defensive stability. For the 2021–22 campaign, president Shahin Hasan oversaw a massive recruitment drive from the Chittagong Football League, retaining only 15 players from the previous year. This move, combined with a defense that conceded the fewest goals in the league, allowed them to establish themselves as a dominant new force in Bangladeshi football.
