In short: In 2016, Jabrill Peppers achieved a feat of versatility rarely seen in college football. While most players specialize in one role, Peppers operated across the field with such frequency that he logged 933 snaps playing 15 different positions in a single campaign.

Peppers' ascent was defined by a rare multi-dimensional skill set. While playing for the Michigan Wolverines, he achieved unanimous All-American status in 2016. He was the initial athlete in Big Ten history to secure three separate awards—Linebacker of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Return Specialist of the Year—following the 2011 expansion of conference accolades. Because his influence across special teams, defence, and offence was so significant, he secured fifth place in the 2016 Heisman Trophy voting. He also earned the Nagurski-Woodson Defensive Player of the Year award. Additionally, he was honored with the Paul Hornung Award for his versatility. His impact was so profound that he finished fifth in the Heisman Trophy voting.

This versatility extended to his high school years in New Jersey. After winning consecutive state championships with Don Bosco Preparatory, Peppers moved to Paramus Catholic, where he secured state titles in 2012 and his senior year. His velocity was also remarkable; he established a 10.77-second New Jersey Non-Public Class A outdoor 100-metre dash record, despite a personal best of 10.51 seconds. During his time at Paramus Catholic, he was named Player of the Year by MSG Varsity. He also won both the 100 and 200-metre dashes at the 2013 Meet of Champions.

After being selected 25th overall in the 2017 NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns, Peppers transitioned to the professional level. His career has since seen him move through several organizations, including the New York Giants—following a high-profile trade involving Odell Beckham Jr. in 2019—and the New England Patriots. Despite the complexities of professional defensive schemes, Peppers has remained a consistent presence across multiple roles, including safety and return specialist. He was originally a five-star recruit in the Class of 2014. His professional journey began when he was selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft.
