From third-round draft pick to Super Bowl champion and defensive standout
In short: Rasul Douglas's journey through the NFL is a masterclass in resilience. After being selected in the third round by the Philadelphia Eagles, he navigated multiple teams and roster shifts to eventually become a touchdown-scoring force for the Green Bay Packers.
Born on August 29, 1995, Rasul Douglas began his collegiate path at Nassau Community College before transferring to West Virginia University. His performance as a senior in 2016 was particularly notable; he tied for the national lead with eight interceptions and was named first-team All-Big 12 Conference. This success propelled him into the 2017 NFL Draft, where he was selected 99th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles in the third round.
Douglas's early professional years were marked by steady development and championship success. After signing a four-year, $3.17 million contract with the Eagles in May 2017, he contributed to their Super Bowl LII victory over the New England Patriots in February 2018. Following his time in Philadelphia, he moved through several organizations, including the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders, Houston Texans, and Arizona Cardinals.
His career reached a significant peak with the Green Bay Packers. After joining the team in October 2021, Douglas enjoyed a prolific season, recording a career-high five interceptions and two touchdowns. His ability to impact the game was highlighted by a 33-yard interception return for a touchdown against the Los Angeles Rams and another touchdown against the Chicago Bears in December 2021. His impact earned him the National Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor.
By 2022, Douglas had established himself as a vital component of the Packers' defense. He secured a three-year, $21.00 million extension in March 2022 and transitioned into a starting cornerback role for the final eight games of the 2022 season following an injury to teammate Eric Stokes.
