A discarded saintess finds purpose through a magical camper van
In short: When Rin Takanashi was summoned to another world, her skills were deemed useless. Instead of despairing, the 30-year-old former caregiver used a unique ability to summon a magical camper van, turning a rejection into a culinary journey across a world built on an otome game.
The series, written by Yoneori, follows Rin Takanashi, a 30-year-old acupuncturist and former caregiver. After being swallowed by a hole during a fishing trip, she is summoned to a new world only to be dismissed by her summoners for having 'useless' skills. However, Rin possesses a hidden ability called Survival, which allows her to identify dangers and adapt to harsh environments. She also has the power to summon a magical camper van, nicknamed "Campy," which runs on magic rather than fuel. Originally, she worked as a caregiver before her fishing trip. Her new Survival ability helps her navigate various hazards.
Campy is far from a standard vehicle. It is larger on the inside, features a fridge with a magical restocking mechanism, and provides an endless supply of self-cleaning water. The van can even turn invisible to anyone Rin does not know, providing protection and privacy. This vehicle becomes the centerpiece of her travels as she forms a party to explore the world, which is revealed to be the setting of an otome game. The vehicle can also protect her companions from various monsters. It functions without needing traditional fuel.
Rin's journey is populated by diverse companions, including Ville—a handsome ogre with magical abilities—and an elf who serves as the party's healer. The narrative explores themes of finding purpose through food and travel. Since its initial Shōsetsuka ni Narō run between June 2019 and February 2021, the franchise has grown from a web novel into a Fujimi Shobo light novel series and a manga by Nana Kogami. Her party includes an arachne scout and a winged cat pet. The group also features a lionfolk member from Lucky Clover.
