In short: Before stepping into the cinematic footsteps of his late brother, Cody Walker lived a life of high-stakes service. An anthropologist and licensed paramedic, his transition from emergency medicine to Hollywood was born from a moment of profound family tragedy and a commitment to legacy.

Cody Walker’s path to acting was unconventional. Following his 2006 La Cañada High School graduation, he obtained a degree in Cultural Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He additionally gained paramedic licensure via the University of California, Los Angeles, Center for Prehospital Care. This professional background led him to Coos County, Oregon, where he worked in an ambulance for nearly three years. His family history is rooted in athletic and trade backgrounds, as his father was a two-time Golden Gloves boxing champion and a sewer contractor. His paternal grandfather, William, also pursued boxing professionally as "Irish" Billy Walker.

His entry into film was deeply personal. Following the death of his older brother, Paul Walker, in a single-vehicle accident on November 30, 2013, Cody and his brother Caleb stepped in to help complete scenes for Paul's character, Brian O'Conner, in the 2015 film Furious 7. While rumors once suggested he might continue the role in subsequent installments, it was later confirmed that the character would not return, and Cody himself stated in 2026 that he would not reprise the stand-in role for the 2028 film Fast Forever. The 2015 premiere of Furious 7 in Los Angeles achieved a massive $397.6 million opening weekend. This success helped propel the film to a global gross exceeding $1.5 billion.

Beyond acting, Walker manages significant philanthropic and entrepreneurial ventures. He serves as the CEO of Reach Out Worldwide, a charity foundation established by his brother to deploy first responders to disaster zones. He also co-founded the car show FuelFest, which held its fourth event in June 2022 to benefit the foundation. In late 2023, he transitioned into television hosting with the renovation series Fast: Home Rescue alongside his wife, Felicia. In November 2020, his foundation provided 120 cases of hand sanitizer to the North Bend Fire Department. He also appeared in the 2018 documentary I Am Paul Walker.
