From Ligue 1 debut to Bayern Munich: the rapid ascent of Sacha Boey
In short: In just a few seasons, Sacha Boey has navigated a high-stakes journey through Europe's top leagues. From his professional debut in France to a major Bundesliga move, his career is a testament to the volatile, fast-moving world of elite professional football.
Born in France on 13 September 2000, Sacha Boey's professional journey began with Rennes, making his debut in a 2–2 Ligue 1 tie against Toulouse FC on 5 May 2019. His path through the French leagues included a season-long loan at Dijon, which commenced on 5 October 2020. This early period laid the foundation for his transition to the international stage, having represented France at the under-17, under-18, and under-20 youth levels.
A significant turning point occurred on 26 July 2021, when Boey signed with Galatasaray through the end of the 2024–25 season. During his tenure in Turkey, he achieved Süper Lig championship glory in the 2022–23 season, a title secured after a 4–1 victory over Ankaragücü on 30 May 2023. His impact was felt in major competitions, including scoring a Champions League goal against Copenhagen on 20 September 2023.
In January 2024, Boey reached a new milestone by joining Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. The deal was worth nearly €30 million, plus €5 million in possible bonuses. Despite facing setbacks, including a hamstring injury and a torn muscle later that year, he continued to contribute, providing an assist to Jamal Musiala in the opening match of the 2024–25 Bundesliga season. His return to Galatasaray occurred on 5 February 2026 via a loan for the season's end, involving a €500,000 fee and a €15 million buy option.
